On the Schedule

This schedule is subject to change, right up until the start time of the show. (I'm just a meanie-head like that.)

Contest 2009!

I want to announce a NEW CONTEST! That's right, YOU can win a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate just by picking the Celebrity of the Month for July! How do you do that? You send me suggestions for celebrities to discuss on the show. This one will work pretty much identically to the Specific Movie Talk contest of 2008.

HERE ARE THE OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS:

All entries must be done via email. ( flickabrac @gmail .com -- spaces added to defend against spambots ) You can send as many suggestions as you want, as long as you don't double any. You can also send them in as many separate messages as you want. You can send one message with 20 suggestions, or you can send 20 messages with one suggestion each. That's up to you. (You are not limited to 20; it's just an example.)

Entries must be made from a valid email address, and does not have to be the one with which you have an Amazon.com account. Entries must also have your name attached somehow... it can be your real name, a pseudonym, or even your Talkshoe ID (if you're a regular live visitor and don't want the world to know who you *really* are). This is so I know who to announce as winner when your celebrity is picked as the winner.

YOU CANNOT PICK A CELEBRITY THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN FEATURED ON THE PODCAST! Entries that suggest Drew Barrymore, Mel Gibson, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Stephen King, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, or Ian McKellen will not be considered.

Contest is open to anyone, anywhere, as long as entrant has access and willingness to use the Amazon.com website.

Deadline for entries is 1:00 am Eastern time on Saturday, June 6, 2008.

SO HOW DO I WIN ALREADY??

Listeners will select the winner. At some point on Saturday, June 6, 2008, I will post a poll to the flick-a-brac show notes web site. The ten celebrities with the highest number of write-in recommendations will be on the poll. In the event of ties to fill the last slots, *FLICKGUY WILL BE THE TIE-BREAKER*

The poll will be open until 1:00 am Eastern time Saturday, July 4, 2008. Whichever celebrity has the highest number of votes will be declared the Celebrity of the Month for the July 18 episode. Again, in the event of a tie *FLICKGUY WILL BE THE TIE-BREAKER*

If the winning celebrity was initially suggested by one person, that person will win the gift certificate. If the celebrity was suggested by two or more people, the winner will be chosen via random drawing. The winner of the gift certificate will be announced in Episode 96, the July 25 ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL.

Winner need not be present to win... though winner will find out sooner if winner *is* present.

So pick the Celebrity of the Month for July. And win a gift certificate for $25.

SPECIFIC MOVIE TALK

"You may recall that in the middle of 2008, I ran a contest to pick the Specific Movie Talk for August. The movie that was sent in most frequently was ultimately not the movie voted as the winner. Practical Magic."

EPISODE 071 - Tamblanana! Tuuk.

This week's non-movie topic:
"In the Spring of 2000, Electronic Arts released a game, created by Maxis, that would change the lives of gamers everywhere. Not the uber-gamers, of course, but more casual gamers. That game was The Sims, a life simulator that put you in control of little pixellated characters on the screen. In the fall of 2004, Electronic Arts released the sequel to this game that brought a brand new dimension to the pixellated characters that we loved. As of June 2, 2009, a third incarnation of this game will be released. But since it's not out yet, we're going to revisit a topic that we had way back in flick-a-brac episode 004: The Sims 2."

[Please note: At the time of recording, Electronic Arts had not yet announced the releasing delay of Sims 3 and is stated as being February 16.]
